4 Ways to Save Money on Your Towing Bill

0

When your car breaks down unexpectedly, getting the car fixed ends up being a problem for later, the first problem becomes getting the vehicle to safety. That can be incredibly difficult if the breakdown is severe, or you’ve gotten into a car crash. The only thing you can do in a situation like that is hiring a tow truck to move your vehicle for you. However, this gives way to another problem, paying for the towing bill!

If you’re not mindful about everything you’re doing, your towing bill can actually run up quite high! The good thing is that that’s not always going to happen. With just a few precautions, you can effectively save on your towing bill! If you don’t know which steps to take, don’t worry, we’ve put together a list of the top 4 ways you can use right away!

#1: Call your bank first

Before you call a tow truck, call your bank and check if the credit card you have includes services too. A lot of banks offer extra services when you have a credit card with them, one of these extra services is almost always roadside assistance! If you don’t already know for sure, it’s a good idea to call the bank and ask anyway. It’s possible that the add-on service already applies to you! If it does, all you have to do is avail the service and you’ll get the tow truck for free!

#2: Check with the car insurance providers

If you don’t have a credit card, or your bank doesn’t provide free or discounted roadside assistance, you’re still not on your own. There are other providers that may provide the service free of cost! One of these providers is your insurance provider! Call up your car insurance provider and ask them if you have breakdown coverage, most of the time, the breakdown coverage includes roadside assistance and towing services! This would be ideal because you’re going to have to check in with your insurance for damages anyway, so if this can be done alongside that, you get two things done together!

#3: Hire the right company

One of the biggest mistakes you can make when calling a tow truck, is calling the wrong tow truck company. If you haven’t done your research, you might end up hiring a company that isn’t legit. There’s always the possibility that you get hit by hidden charges, or the company refuses to disclose their charges until they get there, and then quote something outrageous. Since you’re in an emergency, they’ll know that you might just cave and be willing to pay more than the actual price should be. The likelihood of you getting scammed like this is fairly high, so it’s better that you try not to land in this situation in the first place. This can be avoided by doing your research beforehand. Call Brooklyn Towing Services, or a reputable towing company in your area and get their general information and quotes before you land in a situation where you need them! That way, you’ll know exactly who to call when you need them, and know what you will be expected to pay!

#4: Club/ Association Discounts

Just like credit card benefits and insurance companies, automotive associations also offer subscriptions where you can buy a monthly or yearly premium and be a part of the group. These groups are high in numbers, and usually benefit from getting group discounts on services like emergency roadside assistance and towing! Although the subscription can run you up to $100 a year, It’s still much lower than having to pay the charges of a towing truck every single time your car breaks down!
